The Hunting & Trapping Regulations Synopsis is a summary of the B.C. hunting and trapping regulations made under the Wildlife Act, prepared for the convenience of hunters and trappers.

The Regulations Synopsis:

  • Sets out general hunting information
  • Summarizes important hunting regulations
  • Defines open seasons with maps indicating closed areas

The 2020-2022 Hunting & Trapping Regulations Synopsis is effective from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2022. The Regulations Synopsis is a guide to hunting and trapping in B.C. for the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons.

In the event that there is a need to change a regulation in 2020/21 or 2021/22, the online version will be updated and any changes will be listed here:

Management Units

The Province is divided into nine administrative regions, having a total of 225 management units (MU) for the purpose of efficient game management. Each unit is identified by number and is shown with its boundaries delineated in black dashed lines on the maps listed:

General Open Season and Motor Vehicle Prohibitions

The following maps represent only a few areas where portions of a management unit are open/closed during the General Open Season, or areas where motor vehicles are prohibited/restricted; not all maps within the Hunting and Trapping Regulations synopsis are include here. Refer to the current Hunting & Trapping Regulations Synopsis for more details and other boundary information including, but not limited to:

  • Species closed areas
  • Management unit boundaries
  • No hunting/shooting areas
  • Motor vehicle restricted areas

Road data is not up-to-date and roads depicted may not exist. New roads from 1995 onwards are not shown on maps.
