The Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course is required to apply for your RPAL (Restricted Possession Acquisition License). You must first have completed the CFSC (non-restricted course) in order to complete the CRFSC.
This RPAL course includes 6 hours of class time, the exam is included and consists of a written true/false and multiple choice and a practical handling with deactivated firearms which will occur after the completion of the course. You do not need to return another day for testing and you do not pay any extra.
Course content includes:
- The evolution of firearms, major parts, types and actions
- Basic firearms safety procedures
- Operating firearm actions
- Safe handling and carry procedures
- Firing techniques and procedures
- Care and maintenance of firearms
- Laws: Safe storage, display, transportation and handling of restricted firearms
- Ammunition
- Responsibilities of the firearms owner/user
- Writing material ( Pen & Note Paper)
- Government Issued ID
Minor’s Licence:
Individuals younger than 18 years of age are only eligible to hold a non-restricted firearms license and as such will not be permitted to write the restricted portion of the Canadian Firearms Safety Course exam nor take the course for credit.
