Completing the Combined Canadian Firearms Safety Course / Restricted Safety Course is the first step required in applying for your PAL/RPAL (Possession Acquisition License / Restricted Possession Acquisition License).
This is the license required to purchase or possess both non-restricted and restricted firearms in Canada.
The CFSC/CRFSC runs over two days and includes the exam at the completion of the course on day 2. There is no extra fee for the exam. The exam consists of a written section of true/false & multiple choice questions as well as a practical handling portion with deactivated firearms which you will have plenty of access to and instruction with over your time in the classroom.
There is no pre-study required, but BCFA’s website hosts free access to study material and quizzes.
You will be training with some of the best, most experienced and entertaining Firearms Safety educators in the country.
The course is $225.00
Class starts at 9:30 a.m. both days.

- The evolution of firearms, major parts, types and actions
- Basic firearms safety procedures
- Operating firearm actions
- Safe handling and carry procedures
- Firing techniques and procedures
- Care and maintenance of firearms
- Laws: Safe storage, display, transportation and handling of restricted and non-restricted firearms
- Ammunition
- Responsibilities of the firearms owner/user
- Writing material ( Pen & Note Paper)
- Government Issued ID

Minor’s Licence:
Individuals younger than 18 years of age are only eligible to hold a non-restricted firearms license and as such will not be permitted to write the restricted portion of the Canadian Firearms Safety Course exam nor take the course for credit.
A minor’s licence permits the borrowing of non-restricted firearms for:
- target practice;
- organized shooting competitions;
- hunting; and,
- instruction in the use of firearms.
A minor’s licence also permits the acquisition of ammunition, unless there is an age restriction under the provincial or territorial law.
