Become an RCMP Firearms Safety Course Instructor PAL Course Instructor!

Have you wondered how to become an RCMP Firearms Safety Course instructor / PAL Course Instructor?   Well here is your opportunity!  The BC Firearms Program announced on July 20th, 2018 that they will be looking for qualified individuals to apply to become PAL Course Instructors.

Once you are on your way to becoming a firearms instructor we hope you will consider working with BC Firearms Academy, BC’s most experienced firearms instructors.  We offer the most update training for both students and instructors.  Explore everything BC Firearms Academy at www.bcfirearmsacademy.ca and info@bcfirearmsacademy.ca

The BC CFO office will now be accepting applications for new instructors to be considered for designation in specific areas.

Here are some basic guidelines for sending in applications

1)  Potential applicants will be contacted at the discretion of the CFO.  Not every area is in need of new instructors.  Please do not inquire about needs in a particular area or advocate for why you believe a certain area may need more instructors.  The CFO will make the determination as to how many instructors will be designated per area.

2)  Applications will be accepted via mail only.  No faxes or emails will be accepted.

3)  Incomplete applications will not be accepted and will be returned to the applicant.  (Application form, resume, a minimum of 3 references and a full Vulnerable Sector Check must be included).

4)  Do not send in applications on behalf of your business or another individual.  Applications are to be sent in by the individual interested in being considered for designation.

We would like to advise you of some of the responsibilities associated with the position of a Canada Firearms Safety Course Instructor:

  • the cost of training with a Master Instructor;
  • cost of obtaining a kit of disabled firearms for instructional purposes;
  • organizing and advertising individual courses;
  • maintaining and storing full records of courses delivered;
  • recovering the cost of organizing and delivering courses from the students;
  • delivering a minimum level of instruction per year.

Generally, instructors must have:

  • Significant experience with firearms – preference may be given to those with additional training such as Use of Force training, RCMP training, military training/experience, IPSC, etc
  • Experience in teaching or group facilitation.
  • No criminal record, or pardoned sexual offences
  • A valid Possession & Acquisition Licence with both restricted and non-restricted privileges which you have held for a minimum of 3 years.
  • We also look for community leadership & volunteer experience (coaching, Rod & gun club executive, etc)
