E-2341 closes for signature this Saturday, February 15th, just after 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
With over 171,000 signatures, e-2341 is the most signed Parliamentary e-Petition in Canadian history. Yet with 2.2 million possession and acquisition licences in Canada, this begs the questions: Do firearms owners not care about the future of their hobbies and sports? Is our Canadian heritage as hunters, trappers, farmers and sport shooters not worth fighting for?
This number represents only about 7.8% of all PAL holders in the country, and that is without taking into consideration their supportive friends and family members who may not hold a licence, but have signed the petition in solidarity.
This may be one of our final opportunities to come together as as a unified community, and to send the firm and powerful message that we will not tolerate the unwarranted harassment and confiscation of any lawfully possessed firearms in Canada. And furthermore, that we will demand that the government use the proper democratic process for any firearms legislation they want to impose on Canadians. Unlike other online petitions, parliamentary e-petitions are presented in the House of Commons and the sitting government must table a response. They cannot be ignored by the government.
We understand that some may object to this petition being shared for a variety of reasons, but we believe that this is one of the most meaningful things we can do in the face of such severe adversity from the current federal government. Is your business willing to take a stand? If not now, then when? Don’t wait until it’s too late.
Instructions for signing in 3 simple steps:
1. Go to https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/Petition/Sign/e-2341
2. Enter your information and click “Sign”
3. Wait for the confirmation email from email@example.com and click the link in the email that says “Please confirm your support to complete the process.”
Step 3 is crucial, as there are reportedly over 45,000 unconfirmed signatures that will not be counted!
If you have checked your junk and spam folders and do not see the confirmation email, you can contact PMB-AED@parl.gc.ca to let them know you have signed, but have not received the confirmation email.
